Inauguration

Ro was perhaps not fully understanding of how adamant I was that we not turn on cartoons this morning and instead watch the inauguration of Barack Obama. I whipped her breakfast together as fast as humanly possible so that she could be eating and I could be sitting before the motorcade actually pulled up to the captial building.

She was happy to stay in my lap for a little while, watching as Barack paused to take a breath- only for a moment- at the top of the stairs. We talked about Michelle's stunning use of chartreuse and Aretha Franklin's sparkly hat, we listened to the compostion that John Williams put together, and at the end, Ro was clapping and yelling "Yay! 'Bama!"

Above all, Mr. President, we have hope.
